Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Hold Annual Conference
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in Uganda is planning its annual General Assembly on April 6th and 7th. This conference, held twice a year, aims to educate members and spread awareness about the religion's teachings.
Founded in Uganda in 1991, the LDS Church has grown to over 20,000 followers. Church leadership anticipates continued growth, but emphasizes that potential members undergo a period of instruction before baptism.
According to Frederick Kamya, a church elder, the LDS Church has expanded beyond its initial base in Kampala. Now, established congregations can be found in Busoga, Acholi, and other regions of Buganda. Missionaries, typically young men and women, play a role in spreading the Church's beliefs.
